Delmarva Shorebirds Fall 3-0 to Fredericksburg Nationals Despite Harrison Kreiling’s Six Strikeouts
The Delmarva Shorebirds lost 3-0 to the Fredericksburg Nationals as Harrison Kreiling threw a career-high five innings with six strikeouts.
The Delmarva Shorebirds are the Low-A affiliate of the Baltimore Orioles and have called Arthur W. Perdue Stadium in Salisbury, Maryland, home since 1996. Representing the entire Delmarva Peninsula—Delaware, Maryland, and Virginia—the Shorebirds serve as one of the most important first steps in the Orioles’ player development system, where many of Baltimore’s future stars begin their professional careers.
Originally founded as an affiliate of the Montreal Expos in 1996, the franchise became part of the Orioles organization in 1997 and has remained a key member of Baltimore’s farm system ever since. The Shorebirds quickly found success, capturing South Atlantic League championships in 1997 and 2000, while building a reputation for developing elite prospects. In 2019, the organization was recognized as MiLB Team of the Year following a 90-win season and a South Atlantic League regular-season title.
Over the years, countless future major leaguers have worn a Shorebirds uniform before making their way to Camden Yards. Orioles standouts such as Manny Machado, Brian Roberts, Nick Markakis, Zack Britton, John Means, Ryan Mountcastle, Gunnar Henderson, and Adley Rutschman all spent time on Maryland’s Eastern Shore during their climb through the organization.
Maryland Sports Blog covers the Delmarva Shorebirds with game recaps, player profiles, prospect reports, roster moves, organizational news, and in-depth analysis of Baltimore’s next generation of talent.
