Harford Community College Fighting Owls
Maryland Sports Blog is your home for coverage of the Harford Community College Fighting Owls, one of Maryland’s established junior college athletic programs. Located in Bel Air, Maryland, Harford competes in the National Junior College Athletic Association and NJCAA Region 20 while battling many of the state’s top community college programs in the Maryland Junior College Athletic Conference. The Fighting Owls nickname dates to Harford’s early years, when the school operated largely as an evening college and the nocturnal owl became a natural symbol for its students.
Harford Athletics has built a tradition of competing for conference, regional and national recognition across its varsity programs. The Fighting Owls sponsor sports including baseball, men’s and women’s basketball, men’s and women’s soccer, men’s lacrosse, softball, volleyball and women’s flag football. Harford’s athletic facilities include the APG Federal Credit Union Arena, Harford Stadium and the Harford Sports Complex, giving the program some of the most prominent junior college athletic venues in Maryland.
Baseball has developed into one of Harford’s nationally prominent programs. In 2026, the Fighting Owls finished 55-8, produced a school-record 34-game winning streak, captured the NJCAA Division I East District championship and advanced to the NJCAA Division I Baseball World Series in Grand Junction, Colorado. It marked Harford’s first appearance at the national tournament since 2022 and reinforced the Fighting Owls’ position among the stronger junior college baseball programs in the country.

Hailey Cain scored twice in 50 seconds, and Lila Vincenti added a goal and an assist as the Harford Community College women’s soccer team defeated Sussex County Community College, 4-2, at Harford Stadium.
