Washington College Women’s Volleyball fell to Arcadia, 3-1, in a nonconference match Sept. 9 in Glenside, Pennsylvania. Arcadia won the four sets 25-15, 21-25, 25-20, and 25-17.
Izzy Diehl and Gianna Folke led Washington College with 14 kills apiece. Alexis Stubbs added 24 assists, while Emily Hartnett recorded three aces in the second set.
Arcadia Takes Control After Washington College Wins Second Set
Arcadia opened the match with a 25-15 victory. Diehl contributed five kills for Washington College in the first set.
Washington College answered in the second set, taking an early lead and holding on for a 25-21 win. Folke recorded five kills, Diehl added four, and Hartnett delivered three aces as the Shorewomen tied the match at one set apiece.
The teams continued a back-and-forth battle in the third set, but Arcadia pulled away for a 25-20 victory. Folke recorded five kills in the set, while Emma Shaner added four kills for Washington College.
Washington College entered the fourth set trailing 2-1 and needed a win to extend the match. Diehl recorded five more kills, but Arcadia closed out the match with a 25-17 victory.
Washington College Women’s Volleyball Looks Ahead
Washington College posted a .125 hitting percentage, compared with Arcadia’s .238 mark. Washington College was listed at 2-1 overall and 0-0 in the Centennial Conference, while Arcadia was listed at 5-0 overall and 0-0 in the MAC Freedom.
Washington College Women’s Volleyball is scheduled to face Penn State Brandywine at home Sept. 12 at 11 a.m.
