Orioles Win Sixth Straight, Outlast Astros 4-2 in 11-Inning Thriller

The Baltimore Orioles continue to play their best baseball of the season.
Baltimore extended its winning streak to six games Saturday night with a gritty 4-2 victory over the Houston Astros in 11 innings at Daikin Park. It was another complete team effort as the Orioles relied on outstanding pitching, timely defense, and late-inning execution to earn another road win against a quality opponent. The victory also secured the series win in Houston and continued the momentum that has quickly changed the outlook of the Orioles’ season.
Trevor Rogers delivered another impressive start for Baltimore. The left-hander worked 6.1 strong innings, allowing just one run while striking out eight Astros hitters. Rogers kept one of the American League’s most dangerous lineups under control throughout the evening, giving the Orioles every opportunity to win despite limited offensive production early in the game.
Baltimore grabbed the game’s first run in the fourth inning when Dylan Beavers delivered an RBI double. Houston answered in the seventh on a successful squeeze bunt by Nick Allen, tying the contest at one and setting up a tense finish.
Extra innings produced plenty of drama.
The Orioles manufactured a run in the top of the 10th to take a 2-1 lead, but Houston immediately responded with an RBI double by Yordan Alvarez to even the score again. The biggest moment of the game came moments later when the Astros loaded the bases with nobody out and appeared poised to walk it off.
Instead, Baltimore’s defense came through.
Tyler O’Neill made one of the defensive plays of the season, throwing out the potential winning run at home to start a critical double play. Andrew Kittredge then escaped the inning, keeping the game tied and giving the Orioles another opportunity.
The Orioles finally broke through in the 11th.
With Gunnar Henderson starting the inning on second base, O’Neill beat out a slow infield single that scored the go-ahead run. Moments later, Leody Taveras added an insurance RBI single, giving Baltimore the breathing room it needed for a 4-2 advantage.
Cam Sanders slammed the door in the bottom of the inning, completing another outstanding performance from the Orioles bullpen as Baltimore celebrated its sixth consecutive victory.
MSB Take
These are the types of games playoff contenders win.
The Orioles did not overpower Houston offensively. They battled through missed opportunities, survived a bases-loaded jam with no outs in extra innings, and made every winning play when the game was on the line. Rogers continues to look like one of the club’s most dependable starters, the bullpen has settled into defined roles, and new additions like Cam Sanders are already making a significant impact.
Perhaps the biggest takeaway is the confidence this team is playing with. Six straight wins, including back-to-back victories on the road against the Astros, shows this club is finding its identity at exactly the right time. Championship-caliber teams win close games with pitching, defense, and resilience. Baltimore checked every one of those boxes Saturday night.
The Orioles will look to complete a three-game sweep Sunday and push their winning streak to seven games.
