Coppin State University27s men27s cross country team finished third at the season-opening Delaware Invitational on Friday, Sept. 4, at White Clay Park in Newark, Delaware. Humed Nura and Asa Francis led the team with consecutive top-13 finishes in the men27s 6K race. Coppin State University27s women27s cross country team finished eighth.
Nura and Francis Lead Coppin State University
Humed Nura placed 12th out of 77 runners in the men27s 6K with a time of 21:36.6, while Asa Francis finished 13th in 21:43.0, giving Coppin State University two runners near the front of the field.
Etiam Torgbenu finished 21st overall with a time of 21:36.6, and Elijah Hicks and Whisper Shikwa rounded out the top five for Coppin State University. Xavier Grant completed the course in 27:25.8.
Coppin State University Women Finish Eighth
Sarahi Paulino-Martinez led Coppin State University27s women27s cross country team by placing 58th out of nearly 100 runners in the women27s 5K with a time of 25:45.9. Gifty Oku finished just over a minute later. Kimora Grant, Chase Cineus, and Bridget Annan also competed for Coppin State University27s women27s team.
Next Meet
Coppin State University is scheduled to compete Friday, Sept. 11, at the Delaware State Invitational in Smyrna, Delaware. The meet is scheduled to take place at the DSU Outreach & Research Center.
