Orioles claim INF David Adams off waivers, DFA De La Cruz

David Adams on May 20, 2013.jpgThe Baltimore Orioles have claimed infielder David Adams off waivers from the Cleveland Indians and have designated pitcher Kevin De La Cruz for assignment.  I always saw De La Cruz as a minor league depth kind of pitcher and did not expect him to make the Orioles opening day roster.

Adams is a very good fielder and has had success with his bat at the minor league level.  The Orioles infielders have played well this spring but with Manny Machado still ailing adding another good fielder can not hurt.

At this point I see Adams as a long shot to make the Orioles opening day roster.

Here is the Orioles press release on Adams.
