Allegany College of Maryland sophomore pitcher Ivan Sypa was named to the NJCAA Division II Baseball Third Team All-America Team on Aug. 7, 2026. Sypa became the third player from Allegany College of Maryland to earn All-America recognition in the past six seasons.
The left-hander finished the season with a 2.95 ERA, 105 strikeouts and a .221 opponent batting average over 76.1 innings. He appeared in 21 games, including six starts, and also worked as a relief pitcher.
Sypa’s Strong Strikeout Performances Highlight Season
Sypa recorded a season-high 13 strikeouts against Frederick Community College on April 21. He also struck out nine batters against Cecil College and had multiple outings with six or more strikeouts.
He issued 17 walks during the season. As a freshman, he led Region 20 with 103 strikeouts.
Allegany College of Maryland Continues Tradition of All-Americans
Sypa joins Noah Williamson, who earned All-America recognition in 2022, and Nick Falla, who earned the honor in 2025. These selections mark three Allegany College of Maryland baseball players to receive All-America honors in the past six seasons.
“Ivan has been a tremendous competitor for our program,” said Allegany College of Maryland Head Coach Mason Heyne. “His ability to attack the strike zone, trust his stuff, and compete every day is what makes him special. This recognition reflects the work he’s put in and the impact he’s had on our program over the last two seasons.”
