Washington College Women’s Soccer Gets Second-Half Goals From Dafny Vasquez and Sophie Kilbride in 2-0 Win

CHESTERTOWN, Md. – Washington College women’s soccer scored twice in a 2:56 span after halftime to defeat Marymount 2-0 Saturday night on Kibler Field at Roy Kirby Jr. Stadium. Dafny Vasquez scored at 54:56, and Sophie Kilbride added the second goal at 57:52 as Washington College improved to 2-1-0.

The teams played a scoreless first half, with Kilbride recording Washington College’s only shot on goal during the opening 45 minutes. Marymount saved that attempt, which came at 9:58. Washington College finished the match with 11 shots and three corner kicks.

Grace Morris assisted on the opening goal when her pass found Vasquez, who redirected the ball into the lower-right portion of the goal. Kilbride doubled the lead less than three minutes later with a chip shot from the right side that found the upper-left portion of the goal.

Shorewomen preserve the shutout

Marymount had its best opportunity in the 63rd minute after a corner kick, but Emma Armenti cleared the ball to stop the threat. Marymount’s final shot came in the 78th minute and went off target. Washington College goalkeeper Olivia Allen played all 90 minutes, recorded zero saves, and allowed zero goals.

Washington College women’s soccer will host Widener on Wednesday, September 9, at 7 p.m. The game is scheduled to be played at home.
