Alaina Miller, Sierra Ruehl Lead McDaniel College Women’s Soccer Past Salisbury, 2-0 as McDaniel College women’s soccer team defeated Salisbury, 2-0, on Sept. 4 in the Seahawk Classic hosted by St. Mary’s (Md.). Miller recorded two assists, while Ruehl earned her second career shutout as McDaniel improved to 1-0-1 and extended its unbeaten streak to two games.
McDaniel College Women’s Soccer Builds Early Lead
Hariette Ngwatung scored her first collegiate goal in the ninth minute, with Miller providing the assist. Ngwatung earned a point for the second consecutive game.
McDaniel College women’s soccer doubled its lead in the 26th minute. Salisbury goalkeeper Riley Kinzeler saved Miller’s initial shot, but Katie Pena-Bendalo scored on the rebound for her first career goal.
McDaniel led 2-0 at halftime. Miller, Ngwatung and Pena-Bendalo have accounted for all 10 of McDaniel’s points this season.
Sierra Ruehl Preserves McDaniel Shutout
Salisbury took eight second-half shots, including five on goal. Ruehl saved all five shots on target in the second half to preserve the shutout.
The result marked the second shutout of Ruehl’s career and her second shutout in her last three starts. McDaniel also improved to 2-0-2 in its last four meetings with Salisbury since 2023.
McDaniel College Women’s Soccer Continues Road Trip
McDaniel will face host St. Mary’s (Md.) at 3:30 p.m. tomorrow to conclude its three-game road trip to open the 2026 season.
