Manny Cabrera delivered a 10th-inning RBI single, and the Fredericksburg Nationals defeated the Delmarva Shorebirds 5-4 in extra innings in Salisbury, M.D. Cabrera entered as a pinch hitter and drove in automatic runner Hunter Hines to put Fredericksburg ahead.
The victory improved the Fredericksburg Nationals to 16-3 against the Delmarva Shorebirds this season. Fredericksburg’s bullpen did not allow a run after the fourth inning, helping the Nationals recover from a 4-0 deficit.
Delmarva Shorebirds build an early lead
Delmarva took the lead in the first inning after Ty Head opened the bottom half with a triple. Eric Booth Jr. followed with a sacrifice fly that scored Head.
After Leodarlyn Colon worked the first two innings for Fredericksburg, Alexander Meckley entered in the third. Booth added an RBI groundout, and Stiven Martinez followed with a two-run home run to give the Shorebirds a 4-0 advantage.
Fredericksburg Nationals rally to tie the game
The Fredericksburg Nationals answered in the fourth inning. Kevin Made hit a two-run double for his first RBIs of his current rehab stint, and Avery Ortiz added an RBI double to cut Delmarva’s lead to 4-3.
Cody Howard and Zach Konstantinovsky helped keep the Shorebirds off the scoreboard during the final four innings of regulation. The pair allowed just one hit from the sixth inning on, while Fredericksburg continued to put runners in scoring position in the fifth, sixth and seventh innings.
Dashyll Tejeda tied the game in the top of the ninth with a home run to left-center field. The 4-4 score sent the game to extra innings.

Adam Boucher protected the advantage in the bottom of the 10th after Delmarva loaded the bases to begin the inning. Boucher struck out Eric Booth Jr. and Stiven Martinez before getting Jimmy Anderson to fly out and secure the victory.

Left-handed pitcher Juan Reyes is scheduled to start the next game for the Fredericksburg Nationals against right-handed pitcher Harrison Kreiling of the Delmarva Shorebirds. First pitch is scheduled for 7:05 p.m. at Virginia Credit Union Stadium.
