Carroll Lynx Track and Field: Caroline Vogelsang Sets Women’s 400-Meter Hurdles Record After Rerun

Carroll Lynx Track and Field athlete Caroline Vogelsang won the women’s 400-meter hurdles after the race was rerun Friday at the Carpenter-Case Invitational at McDaniel College in Westminster, Maryland. The initial race was voided because of an operational situation in the timing system, but Vogelsang won the second running and set the Lynx’s record.

Vogelsang Wins After Race Is Voided

Vogelsang had hoped to set the Lynx’s record in her 10,000-meter race, but meet management replaced the event with the 5,000 meters because of time constraints. Vogelsang already held the Lynx’s record in the 5,000 meters, so she turned her attention to the women’s 400-meter hurdles.

Her initial hurdles race appeared to be a record-setting performance before the timing-system issue voided it. The race was run again, and Vogelsang won the rerun while setting the Lynx’s record in the event.

Wright, Whitlow and Imbraguglio Add Strong Performances

Approximately one hour before Vogelsang’s race, Carter Wright broke his own men’s 400-meter hurdles record for the third time in April. Wright’s earlier rerun had followed a technical error involving the placement of the hurdles.

Marshall Whitlow recorded personal bests in the 100-meter dash and 200-meter dash. Cross Imbraguglio also set a personal best in the 400 meters with a time of 54.50.

Carroll Lynx Track and Field Set for Final Meet

Carroll Lynx Track and Field will conclude the 2026 season Friday, May 8, at the WCU Last Chance Meet at West Chester University.

Maryland Sports Blog Take

Vogelsang set the Lynx’s record in the women’s 400-meter hurdles after competing in the event twice in the same afternoon. The rerun followed an unusual timing-system issue, while Wright’s record earlier in the meet added another notable hurdles performance for the Lynx.
