With Webb down Chykie Brown will be set to step up
The Baltimore Ravens lost Lardarius Webb in the game against the Dallas Cowboys. One of the players that really impressed me was Chykie Brown a late-round draft pick from last seasons draft.
Brown was drafted in the fifth round in the 2011 draft and has seen limited action, most of it coming on special teams. This season he has shown that he can be a very good gunner. Brown has also shown his ability on defense during the preseason and against the Cowboys he played extremely well.
Brown is a very fast corner and is big for a corner back at 5-11 and 190 pounds. He played big time college football at Texas and is one of the very high potential corners. With Webb gone Brown has a real chance to step up and make a difference for the Ravens.
Webb can not be replaced, as he was one of the best corner backs in the league but the Ravens have a lot of depth there. It is unfortunate for the Ravens that they had to cut Danny Gorrer who played very well last year as well. Gorrer was signed by the Seattle Seahawks and would have probably been the third or fourth corner if the Ravens did not cut him.
I think Brown will play well, he will have his miscues but for the most part I think he will be able to keep up with most receivers in the league.
