The Washington Spirit will hold a free personal safety workshop before its November 1 women’s soccer match against Chicago at Audi Field. The Washington Spirit personal safety workshop will cover situational awareness, boundary setting and verbal de-escalation.
Workshop Open to First 50 Registrants
The pre-match workshop is available to the first 50 people who register. Each participant will receive a free ticket to remain for the match that evening.
The initiative recognizes October as National Domestic Violence Awareness Month. The Washington Spirit also shared resources from the National Domestic Violence Hotline, Virginia Sexual and Domestic Violence Action Alliance, DC Coalition Against Domestic Violence, Maryland Network Against Domestic Violence and Survivors and Advocates for Empowerment (SAFE).
“We see you. We stand with you. Your safety is never a joke to this club,” the Washington Spirit wrote. The club also shared the message, “Different roots. Same home. One Spirit.”
