Washington College women’s soccer fell to Franklin & Marshall, 1-0, in the Centennial Conference opener Wednesday at Tylus Field in Lancaster, Pa. Katherine Finnerty scored the lone goal for Franklin & Marshall at the 30:37 mark on an unassisted shot from around 20 yards that found the upper-left corner.
Franklin & Marshall improved to 5-1-1 overall and 2-0-0 in the Centennial Conference. Washington College fell to 4-3-1 overall and 0-1-0 in conference play.
Franklin & Marshall Takes Halftime Lead
Finnerty’s goal gave Franklin & Marshall a 1-0 advantage that it carried into halftime. Washington College goalkeeper Olivia Allen made three saves in the first half, stopping shots in the eighth, 10th and 28th minutes.
Allen finished with seven saves and allowed one goal over 90 minutes. Washington College’s first shot on goal came in the 35th minute when Lily Barnum directed an attempt on frame, but it was saved.
Washington College Women’s Soccer Presses Late
Vanessa Shay recorded a shot on goal in the 58th minute, followed by Kaileigh Brady adding another in the 65th. Both attempts were stopped by the Franklin & Marshall goalkeeper.
Sophie Kilbride had a shot on goal with 3:43 remaining, but Franklin & Marshall made the save. Barnum hit the right post with one minute remaining, and Dafny Vasquez’s follow-up shot went wide five seconds later.
Washington College totaled six shots and one corner kick. Franklin & Marshall held an 8-4 advantage in shots on goal.

Washington College is scheduled to host Dickinson on Saturday, September 26, 2026, at 4 p.m. for its home Centennial Conference opener.
