Washington College Shorewomen Field Hockey Falls 1-0 at Muhlenberg College

Washington College (WAC) Shorewomen field hockey fell 1-0 to Muhlenberg College (MUHL) in a Centennial Conference game Saturday, Oct. 3, at Merino Field at Scotty Wood Stadium in Allentown, Pennsylvania. Charlotte Schurman made six saves for Washington College, while Jocelyn Morgan scored Muhlenberg’s only goal in the second quarter.

Muhlenberg scored at 2:16 of the second quarter on a shot from the right side of the cage from about 10 yards away. The Mules protected the lead through the final two quarters to secure the conference victory.

Washington College Shorewomen Field Hockey Limited to Two Shots

Washington College recorded two shots and two penalty corners. Sophia Warner had a shot blocked by the Muhlenberg goalkeeper in the second quarter, while Colleen Anson inserted both Washington College penalty corners.

Tara Radebaugh also recorded a shot that the Muhlenberg defense blocked. Washington College finished with one shot on goal, compared with five for Muhlenberg College.

Washington College Shorewomen Field Hockey Falls to 0-3 in Conference Play

The result left Washington College at 2-8 overall and 0-3 in the Centennial Conference. Muhlenberg College moved to 3-7 overall and 1-2 in conference play.

Washington College was scheduled to host McDaniel College on Wednesday, Oct. 7, at 4 p.m. in a Centennial Conference game dedicated to Breast Cancer Awareness.

Washington College Shorewomen field hockey stayed within one goal after Muhlenberg College scored early in the second quarter. Schurman’s six saves kept the deficit at one, but Washington College could not convert its two shots and two penalty corners into an equalizer.
