Washington College expands racquet facilities leadership

The Wheeler Family Pickleball Courts officially opened Saturday, Oct. 17, during Washington College’s Pickleball Community Day. The Lim Family Tennis Center is set to open in spring 2027.

Washington College President Bryan Matthews said the completed Wood Racquet Facility will create new opportunities for student-athletes on the varsity men’s and women’s tennis teams and for students across campus.

“The completion of the Wood Racquet Facility will mark a new era of play for our student athletes on the varsity men’s and women’s tennis teams, and provide students across our campus with opportunities to compete in these facilities,” Matthews said. “I’m certain our current and future students, as well as our broader community, will benefit from Constantine’s leadership in this new role.”

Constantine Ananiadis transitions from coaching

Ananiadis has served as head coach of the Washington College men’s and women’s tennis teams since 2022. It was his second stint in the position after he previously served as head coach from 2003-2007.

“I’m thrilled to be transitioning to this new phase of my career and help expand the relations between the College and our local community using tennis as the vehicle,” Ananiadis said. “These past four years I have been intimately involved with the fundraising and construction process for the new Lim Family Tennis Center, so I’m honored to be given the opportunity to oversee the facilities and build programming that supports it.”

Chuck Willenborg will serve as interim head coach of the Washington College men’s and women’s tennis teams. Washington College plans to conduct a national search for the next tennis coach in the spring.
