Washington College Men’s Soccer played Dickinson to a 0-0 draw Sept. 26 in Chestertown, Maryland, during its Centennial Conference home opener. Washington College entered the match with a 2-2-5 overall record and a 0-1-1 conference record, while Dickinson entered at 4-4-1 overall and 1-0-1 in conference play.
Washington College Men’s Soccer Creates Second-Half Chances
Dickinson led 5-2 in shots at halftime, but neither team scored during the opening 45 minutes. Walker Patino recorded Washington College’s first shot, and Oliver Horan had a chance from inside the box that went just left of the goal.
Washington College outshot Dickinson 13-10 in the second half. Patino had another attempt that went just right of the goal before Scott O’Donnell hit the crossbar in the 58th minute. The Shoremen continued to create opportunities late in the match. With 9:34 remaining, Ethan Watson played the ball to Jordan Waiganjo in the box, but Waiganjo’s header went high and right of the goal. Tucker Sprano then hit the crossbar with six minutes remaining, leaving the match scoreless.
Calvin Field Makes Six Saves
Washington College goalkeeper Calvin Field played 90 minutes and made six saves. Dickinson had six shots on goal compared to Washington College’s one, but neither team found the net.
Both teams added a tie to their conference record. Washington College is scheduled to host Franklin & Marshall on Wednesday, Sept. 30, at 7 p.m. in Chestertown.
