USA wins silver in Women's hockey, Men do not medal
The United States hockey has disappointed in the Olympics. On Wednesday the Women’s team was beaten by Canada 3-2 in overtime. USA led for most of the game and never played from behind.
Meghan Duggan scored the first goal of the game with an assist from Jocelyne Lamoureux in the second period. Alex Carpenter added a second goal for USA in the third period. Team Canada came back and tied it in the third period.
In overtime team USA had a power play for a brief time before a phantom slashing call was made. That bad call cost the USA the game as they would go on to get another penalty and lost 3-2.
The Men’s lost to Finland 5-0 today and will not receive a medal. The Men’s team was the highest scoring team in the tournament but was shutout in the last two games. The emotional loss to Canada Friday must have taken its toll on team USA as they showed little life against Finland.
