Two Steelers arrested in one stop
Two Pittsburgh Steelers were arrested in one traffic stop Wednesday afternoon and both were charged with marijuana possession. Two running backs, Le’Veon Bell and LeGarrette Blount, were the players charged. Bell is also expected to be charged with a DUI. Both charges are misdemeanors and they will likely not get suspended unless they fail a drug test. Bell, who has two charges, is the more likely to get suspended.
The Steelers have Bell and Blount listed as their top two running backs and getting arrested a few weeks before the season starts is not a good idea. The Steelers play a preseason game Thursday in Philadelphia and both players were expected to see significant playing time. Bell was a second-round pick for the Steelers in 2013 and is the Steelers starting running back.
The Baltimore Ravens will face the Steelers in week two and one of the players may be suspended. The Steelers are already short on running back talent and finished 27th in the NFL in rushing last season. How these arrests will affect the Steelers is yet to be seen, but having two players arrested right before a preseason game shows an extreme lack of discipline. All the Ravens arrests happened during the offseason when there were no OTA’s or training camp.
