Towson Women’s Lacrosse Earns IWLCA Academic Recognition, Eight Tigers Honored for Excellence in the Classroom
The success of Towson women’s lacrosse extended well beyond the playing field during the 2025-26 academic year.
The Tigers were once again recognized by the Intercollegiate Women’s Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) as an Academic Honor Squad, while eight student-athletes earned spots on the prestigious IWLCA Division I Academic Honor Roll, highlighting Towson’s continued commitment to excellence in both athletics and academics. The program has consistently been one of the nation’s top academic women’s lacrosse programs, earning the team honor year after year thanks to a cumulative grade point average above the IWLCA’s required 3.2 threshold. Individual Academic Honor Roll recipients must be juniors, seniors, or graduate students while maintaining at least a 3.50 cumulative GPA.
For head coach Sonia LaMonica’s program, the recognition reflects a culture that expects student-athletes to excel in every aspect of their collegiate careers.
Towson’s Academic Honor Roll Members
Emma Baker – Attack/Midfield
Baker has developed into one of Towson’s emerging offensive threats while also excelling in the classroom. A Business Administration major with concentrations in Finance and Business Analytics, Baker has steadily increased her role on the field while earning recognition among the university’s top academic performers. She was also recognized with High Honors with Distinction on the CAA Commissioner’s Academic Honor Roll, underscoring her success in balancing a demanding academic schedule with Division I athletics.
Halley Koras – Attack
A local product from Lutherville and Notre Dame Prep, Koras finished an outstanding Towson career by continuing to produce offensively while remaining one of the team’s academic leaders. Majoring in Secondary Education with a Mathematics concentration, Koras scored five goals and added three assists during her senior campaign, including a memorable hat trick on Senior Day. Earlier in her career she earned CAA All-Rookie honors and developed into a dependable veteran leader. This marks another major academic honor in an already decorated collegiate career.
Ocea Leavy – Midfield
Leavy has become one of Towson’s most versatile midfield contributors while pursuing a degree in Sociology and Anthropology with a Criminal Justice concentration and Psychology minor. She has consistently been recognized for both her academic success and leadership, earning High Honors with Distinction within the CAA while continuing to represent the Tigers as one of the program’s top student-athletes.
Cameron Levine – Defense
Levine, a graduate student and key member of Towson’s defensive unit, earned another major academic distinction while studying Family and Professional Collaboration. Her veteran leadership has been valuable both on the field and in the locker room, and her continued academic excellence reflects the standard established throughout the Tigers program.
Katherine McCormick – Midfield
McCormick continues to distinguish herself as one of Towson’s most accomplished student-athletes. A Sport Management major with a Business Administration minor, she has repeatedly earned conference and national academic recognition. Her ability to perform in the classroom while contributing on the field has made her one of the program’s model student-athletes.
Rory Turner – Goalkeeper
Turner has been a dependable presence in goal while pursuing a Sport Management degree with a Business Administration minor. In addition to anchoring the Tigers defensively, she has consistently maintained the academic standards necessary to earn conference and national recognition. Turner also earned High Honors on the CAA Commissioner’s Academic Honor Roll during the academic year.
Shannon Sullivan – Midfield/Defense
Sullivan has excelled in multiple roles throughout her Towson career while majoring in Business Administration with a Marketing concentration and Business Analytics minor. A reliable two-way player, Sullivan has paired her athletic versatility with sustained academic excellence, earning repeated recognition from both the CAA and the IWLCA.
Milana Zizakovic – Midfield
Zizakovic rounds out Towson’s list of honorees after another impressive academic year. Majoring in Business Administration with a Marketing concentration and Business Analytics minor, she has continued to represent the Tigers with distinction both academically and athletically while earning national recognition from the IWLCA.
MSB Analysis
Academic recognition often receives less attention than wins and championships, but it speaks volumes about the culture within a collegiate program. Balancing Division I athletics with demanding coursework requires exceptional discipline, and Towson once again proved that its women’s lacrosse program is succeeding in both arenas.
Having eight players earn individual Academic Honor Roll recognition while the team secures another Academic Honor Squad award demonstrates that academic achievement is woven into the fabric of the program rather than being the accomplishment of just a few standout students.

Towson continues to show why it is one of Maryland’s premier women’s lacrosse programs. Success should never be measured only by wins and losses. Developing student-athletes who excel in the classroom while competing at a high level is equally important. Congratulations to Emma Baker, Halley Koras, Ocea Leavy, Cameron Levine, Katherine McCormick, Rory Turner, Shannon Sullivan, and Milana Zizakovic on earning national academic recognition. Their accomplishments represent Towson University exceptionally well and set a standard for future Tigers.
