Towson Volleyball Unveils Challenging 2026 Schedule with Eyes on Another CAA Championship

Towson Volleyball Unveils Challenging 2026 Schedule with Eyes on Another CAA Championship

The road to another Coastal Athletic Association title is officially set.

Towson University head coach Don Metil and the Tigers have announced their 2026 volleyball schedule, a slate that features strong non-conference competition, 12 home matches inside SECU Arena, regional rivalries, and another demanding CAA schedule as Towson looks to build on its championship tradition.

Towson has become one of the premier volleyball programs in the CAA under Metil, winning four consecutive conference championships and regularly earning NCAA Tournament berths. The 2026 schedule reflects that championship mindset, with early tests designed to prepare the Tigers for another postseason run.

Tough Non-Conference Tests Await

The Tigers open the season at the Mizzou Invitational in Columbia, Missouri, where they’ll face:

  • Idaho (Aug. 28)
  • Missouri (Aug. 28)
  • Western Illinois (Aug. 29)

Missouri provides an immediate measuring stick against an SEC opponent, while Idaho and Western Illinois should offer quality competition before Towson returns home.

September also includes several intriguing regional matchups:

  • at Loyola Maryland
  • vs. Saint Peter’s
  • at Morgan State

Those contests continue Towson’s tradition of playing strong Mid-Atlantic opponents before conference play begins.

Tiger Invitational Headlines Home Schedule

One of the highlights of the early season comes with the annual Tiger Invitational at SECU Arena.

Towson welcomes:

  • Arkansas
  • Robert Morris
  • Howard

Hosting an SEC program in Arkansas gives the Tigers another opportunity to test themselves against Power Four-level competition while playing in front of the home crowd.

CAA Play Begins in September

Conference action starts with a home series against Northeastern before Towson hits the road to face perennial contender College of Charleston.

Other conference opponents include:

  • William & Mary
  • Campbell
  • Hampton
  • North Carolina A&T
  • Delaware
  • Monmouth
  • Stony Brook
  • Hofstra
  • Elon
  • UNC Wilmington

The balanced conference schedule once again figures to be one of the nation’s toughest outside the Power Four conferences.

Regional Rivalries Continue

Away from conference action, Towson also renews local rivalries with:

  • Loyola Maryland
  • Morgan State
  • Coppin State

Those matches continue to showcase Maryland collegiate volleyball while providing fans with several exciting in-state contests.

Experienced Leadership Returns

Towson enters 2026 with expectations of remaining among the CAA favorites.

Metil has built one of the conference’s most consistent programs through outstanding player development, aggressive scheduling, and disciplined defense. The Tigers have become annual NCAA Tournament contenders while maintaining one of the best home-court advantages in the conference.

Replacing departed seniors will be important, but the program’s winning culture gives Towson confidence entering another championship chase.

MSB Take

Towson once again assembled the type of schedule that should prepare it for meaningful volleyball in November. Playing Missouri and Arkansas early will expose the Tigers to elite competition, while regional rivals and a deep CAA slate ensure there are very few nights off.

If Towson can navigate its challenging non-conference schedule and continue its dominance inside SECU Arena, another CAA championship and NCAA Tournament appearance are realistic goals. The Tigers have established themselves as Maryland’s flagship Division I volleyball program, and the 2026 schedule gives them every opportunity to prove it once again.
