The Southern Maryland Blue Crabs lost 7-2 to the Lexington Legends on Wednesday night at Regency Furniture Stadium in Waldorf, Maryland. Lexington starting pitcher Tyler Guilfoil struck out eight batters and allowed two runs over six innings. The Legends outhit Southern Maryland 13-5 and scored all seven of their runs before the Blue Crabs scored in the sixth inning.
The loss left the Southern Maryland Blue Crabs at 17-16 in the current segment and 58-38 overall. Lexington entered the game at 18-16 in the current segment and 45-52 overall.
Lexington Builds an Early Lead
The Legends scored three runs in the first inning against Southern Maryland starting pitcher Kyle Virbitsky. Xane Washington opened the game with a triple and scored on a Patrick Sanchez RBI single before Curtis Terry hit a two-run home run to left field.
The home run was Terry’s second in as many nights and his 20th of the season. Lexington added four runs in the fourth inning when Jackson Feltner hit a solo home run, Washington delivered a two-run double and Terry added an RBI single.
Blue Crabs Answer in the Sixth
Southern Maryland got on the scoreboard in the bottom of the sixth inning. Brody Fahr walked to start the rally, and Taylor Darden followed with a double off the left-field wall.
Ethan Wilson brought both runners home with a two-run single, cutting Lexington’s lead to 7-2. The Blue Crabs did not score again, while their bullpen combined for 5.1 scoreless innings.
Guilfoil Earns the Win
Guilfoil earned the win after allowing two runs over six innings and striking out eight batters. Virbitsky took the loss after surrendering seven runs over 3.2 innings, along with nine hits, two walks and one hit batter while striking out three.
Virbitsky was listed with a 1-5 record and a 5.85 ERA over his last six starts. Terry reached base five times, while Washington contributed a first-inning triple and a fourth-inning two-run double in Lexington’s 13-hit performance.

The Southern Maryland Blue Crabs continue their six-game series against the Lexington Legends on Thursday, August 13, at Regency Furniture Stadium.
