Sophia Warner scored twice, including the game-winning goal in the second overtime, as the Washington College Shorewomen defeated Batten University 3-2 in double overtime during its home opener Sept. 5 in Chestertown, Maryland.
Warner opened the scoring 10:40 into the first quarter with an assist from Tara Radebaugh. Batten University answered with two second-quarter goals from Kellyn McCloud and Landry Meyer to take a 2-1 lead.
Shorewomen Force Overtime
Washington College created several scoring opportunities after halftime, with Reece Forrey, Radebaugh, Tyler Rice, Natalie Watkinson and Erin Houlihan involved in the attack. The pressure produced the equalizer at 51:17, when Watkinson scored on an assist from Jamie Baldwin to tie the game at 2-2.
Charlotte Schurman made six saves for Washington College, including a stop at 71:17 that kept the game tied in the first overtime. Warner then scored at 72:26 in the second overtime, with Rice providing the assist.
Washington College recorded eight shots on goal, while Batten University finished with seven. The victory gave the Shorewomen a 1-1 record, while Batten University fell to 0-2.

The Shorewomen’s next game is at No. 5 Salisbury University on Sept. 9, 2026, at 6 p.m. in Salisbury, Maryland.
