Smith vs Dumervil who was the better addition
The Baltimore Ravens lost a lot of players in the off season and it was highly talked about but the defense has been very good this season. To say the Ravens have a better defense this season would not be wrong. The Ravens signed a few major free agents but two have stood out, Daryl Smith and Elvis Dumervil. Now lets see which one was the better signing.
Dumervil came here to replace Paul Kruger and is on pace to have more sacks than Kruger did last season. Kruger had nine regular season sacks and Dumervil already has five. Dumervil came here with much fan fair and signed a big multi-year deal.
Smith came here on a one-year deal and was pretty much an after thought until training camp started. Since the season started Smith has been all over the field and leads the team in tackles with 53. Smith also leads the team in interceptions with two and he brought one of them back for a touchdown.
Dumervil on the other hand only has 16 tackles and has no interceptions, he is a pure pass rusher so do not expect him to.
In my opinion Terrell Suggs may be the Ravens defensive MVP but Smith was the best off season pick up for the Ravens. Smith has been outstanding in what was one of the Ravens biggest question marks coming into the season.
