“Showtime” Pettis Goes Platinum In Music City

Holy ship on a raging sea, that superman punch knockout went platinum instantly in Music City baby. Anthony “Showtime” Pettis delivered one of the most talked about finishes in a long time. Maycee Barber remained undefeated but it came at a price. Jennifer Maia put on a boxing display against Alexis Davis. Bryce Mitchell put on a stunning effort worth talking about in a huge win over Bobby Moffett. We will touch on a few on stage performances from last night’s sold out event in Music City.

Bryce Mitchell def. Bobby Moffett via UD (29-28, 29-28, 29-28)
“Thug Nasty” fighting out of Searcy, Arkansas with Barata MMA put on a solid pergormance with an impressive striking game and ground and pound that was a pleasant surprise against a submission specialist like Moffett. Mitchell was locked deep into a choke and I thought this southern boy was about to go out. Bryce responded with an amazing escape. The heart of champion rests in this guy. Expect to see him again soon in the UFC cage as he has earned his way into the main roster locker room. Remaining undefeated as a pro Mitchell will no doubt set up for a marquee fight in the near future. Taje your momma out for steak kid
Fight of the Night: Bryce Mitchell vs. Bobby Moffett

Jennifer Maia def. Alexis Davis via UD (29-28, 29-28, 29-28)
Jennifer came out fast and landed a series of punches that dropped Davis in round one. Davis took it to the ground in round two landing some punches and elbows while maintaining ground control and taking the round. Maia responded in round three with accirate striking landing some solid punches. Davis had some solid leg kicks and was fighting with a passion but couldn’t slip the barrage of punches from Maia. Solid fight from Jennifer Maia as she locked up her first UFC win.

Curtis Blaydes def Jason Willis (Ass Whooping)
I wont even bother with numbers for the decision to simply put it Blaydes gave Willis an old fashioned ass whopping. Slam after slam after slam he threw Willis around like a man tosses a boy. Blaydes passed Cain Velasquez for most take downs in UFC heavyweight history. Blaydes vs Stipe looks like the fight that I want to see next.

Maycee “The Future” Barber def. JJ Aldrich via second-round TKO
WOW the future looks bright after a huge second round TKO by Barber. The future didn’t always look to be set in stone as Aldrich almost rewrote the future when she landed a barrage of punches on Maycee in round one dropping the highly hype 20 year old for the first time with a stunning shot. Maycee made some adjustments and came back with a vengeance in the second round. Maycee landed a beautiful left hook that put Aldrich on dream street. Backing up against the cage Barber unleashed a rally of punches that caused the stoppage of the fight. The future looks bright and beautiful with Maycee Barber.

Anthony “Showtime” Pettis def. Stephen “Wonderboy” Thompson via KO/TKO at 4:55 of Round 2
WHAT A FIGHT. Thompson was putting on a striking display against Pettis. Hard kicks to the legs and body, stiff jabs and overhands to the face of “Showtime” as “Wonderboy” had Pettis bloody and seemingly beaten. Out of nowhere Pettis strikes with a lunging superman punch that found it’s mark and turned out the lights on Thompson with mere seconds left in the second round. Shocking the fans and causing the arena to erupt Pettis had delivered a performance of the night finish and established himself in the welterweight division. Absolutely one of the most impressive and unexpected finishes in MMA history it was “Showtime” in the main event and Pettis went Platinum in Music City.
