Between Rounds- Tecia Torres
Between Rounds is a new feature of MSB Fight Club. In my first installment I am taking to the corner of “The Tiny Tornado” herself Tecia Torres. Tecia’s next fight is at UFC 235 in the Women’s strawweight division against Weili Zhang.
Standing 5’1″ and weighing in at 115 lbs the American mixed martial artist is an aggressive striker yet well rounded with a BJJ background, hence the nickname “The Tiny Tornado”. Tecia has trained with some fantastic coaches including Marcos DaMatta a Carlson Gracie 4th Degree Black Belt, and American Top Team Pro Fighter’s BJJ Coach. Her styles include Taekwondo, Muay Thai, Karate and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. Tecia holds a Black belt in Karate,
Black belt in Jhoon-Rhee Taekwondo as well as a Blue belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu.
Tecia started her pro career on a 7 fight win streak with victory’s over names like Felice Herrig, Rose Namajunas and UFC Covergirl Paige VanZant. The Tiny Tornado fell victim to Namajunas (current Women’s Strawweight Champion) in their rematch then bounced back with three more wins against Bec Rawlings, Juliana Lima and Michelle Waterson. Tecia ran into trouble against number 1 ranked Jéssica Andrade and number 2 ranked Joanna Jędrzejczyk falling to a record of 10-3. Always the warrior and always willing to battle Tecia accepted a fight against the 18-1 Weili Zhang at UFC 235 that headlines Jon Jones vs Anthony Smith.
Tecia is tenacious and has endeared the love of the fans around the world. The Tiny Tornado has a ton of heart. She can strike from anywhere with devastating results and with next to no notice it is easy to get caught in her whirlwind.
