Salisbury University women’s soccer lost to York College of Pennsylvania Spartans, 2-0, on Sept. 23 at Graham Field in York, Pa. York College scored in the 44th minute and added another goal in the 60th minute to secure the road win.
The loss left Salisbury University with a 0-7-1 record. Salisbury recorded five shots on goal, while York had eight in the Coast-to-Coast Athletic Conference matchup.
York College Scores in Each Half
Each team recorded an early shot on goal. York’s Meg Kalthof had a header stopped by Salisbury goalkeeper Riley Kinzeler, while Salisbury’s Brooke Spadin had an early attempt saved by York goalkeeper Gracie Leatherly.
Kinzeler made three additional saves in the ensuing minutes, including a stop on Kalthof from the top of the box. York broke through shortly before halftime when Addyson Krug scored in the 44th minute, with Jess Bentzel and Olivia Dingman providing the assists.
York extended its lead in the 60th minute when Mackenzie Hanley scored on an assist from Bentzel. The Spartans held Salisbury scoreless for the rest of the match.
Salisbury Creates Late Chance
Bailey Knotts hit the post on Salisbury’s final shot with under two minutes remaining. Callie Chesney recorded three shots for the second consecutive game, while Talyn Catena and Lillian Hutchings each recorded two shots.
Rebecca Fairbanks, Lacey Hoageson and Lauren Chesney each played all 90 minutes. Kinzeler finished with six saves for Salisbury.

Salisbury University women’s soccer is scheduled to host Hood on Sept. 26 at 1 p.m. at the Gerry DiBartolo Sea Gull Soccer Complex.
