SALISBURY, Md. — Salisbury University men’s basketball added another achievement to its successful 2025-26 season, earning national recognition for excellence in the classroom.

The National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) honored the Sea Gulls with its 2025-26 Team Academic Excellence Award, recognizing programs that finished the academic year with a cumulative team grade-point average of at least 3.0. In addition, three Salisbury student-athletes were selected to the prestigious NABC Honors Court, an award presented to upperclassmen who maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.2 or higher while competing at the collegiate level.

The individual Honors Court selections were:

  • Noah Schlotterbeck
  • Brendan Bosley
  • Michael DiPietro

Excellence Beyond the Court

The NABC Academic Excellence Award is one of the highest academic honors a college basketball program can receive. More than 400 programs from NCAA Division I, II, III, NAIA, and junior college basketball were recognized this year, highlighting programs that prioritize academic success alongside athletic achievement.

For Salisbury, the recognition reflects the culture built within the program under head coach Andrew Sachs, where success is measured not only by wins and championships but also by achievements in the classroom.

The three Honors Court recipients demonstrated that commitment throughout the academic year, balancing the demands of college basketball with rigorous coursework while helping represent Salisbury University with distinction.

Building a Championship Culture

The Sea Gulls have consistently established themselves as one of the premier Division III basketball programs in the region. Academic honors such as these reinforce that the program develops well-rounded student-athletes prepared for success after graduation.

The NABC Honors Court recognizes juniors, seniors, and graduate students who have distinguished themselves academically while competing at the varsity level. To qualify, student-athletes must maintain at least a 3.2 cumulative GPA, be enrolled at a four-year institution, and compete for a program led by an NABC member coach.

Championships and playoff runs often receive the headlines, but academic achievements deserve just as much recognition.

Salisbury men’s basketball continues to represent Maryland with class both on and off the court. Earning the NABC Team Academic Excellence Award while placing three student-athletes on the Honors Court demonstrates the program’s commitment to developing leaders, not just basketball players.

As college athletics continue to evolve, accomplishments like these remind everyone that the true mission of collegiate sports remains preparing student-athletes for lifelong success.
