Roquan Smith, Patrick Queen Receive Local Media Awards
Every year the local media that covers the Baltimore Ravens gives two awards, the”Team MVP”, as well as the “Media Good Guy”.
This season the media voted linebacker Roquan Smith as the team MVP. Since joining the Ravens midway through the year after being traded from Chicago. Smith has elevated the level of this defense taking it from middle of the pack to one of the best defenses in the NFL. But not only is Smith elevating his team, through his play he has been the best linebacker in football in 2022.
With 169 total tackles, Smith was named to his first Pro Bowl as well as being named to the 2022 players All-Pro team. Smith’s play did not go unnoticed by the Ravens has Smith signed a five-year $100 million contract on Tuesday. The deal makes him the highest paid player at his position.
Fellow linebacker Patrick Queen was awarded the “Media Good Guy” for his willingness to speak to the media when asked, and his polite nature when doing so. For many players it is much easier to talk after a win or a good performance. But for media members around the team it was Queen being readily available to the media even after a loss or a disappointing performance that really stuck out.
But not only has Queen been great off the field, he is also having his best season as a pro in 2022. Queen has 117 total tackles, a career high five sacks, one forced fumble, and two interceptions.
