Updated: Ravens trade for Monroe
The Baltimore Ravens have traded for Jacksonville Jaguars offensive tackle Eugene Monroe. Monroe played at Virginia and was the eight overall pick of the 2009 draft.
Monroe started all 16 games for the Jaguars last season. The Ravens really could use more depth at tackle and Bryant McKinnie has not played well. No news yet on to what the Ravens gave up for Monroe who is reportedly healthy.
Monroe has started all four of the Jaguars games this season. Overall Monroe has started 62 of 65 games in the past five years for the Jaguars. This season Monroe has only allowed one sack.
It may take Monroe a week or two to learn the Ravens playbook and get into the lineup. I really like this move, good tackles are hard to find and the Ravens are not giving up too much to get him.
Update: The Ravens will give the Jaguars a fourth and fifth round pick according to multiple sources.
Here is Aaron Wilson’s tweet about the trade.
