Ravens Sign Veteran Tackle Kendall Lamm After Monday Tryout

The Baltimore Ravens moved quickly to address their offensive line depth Monday, signing veteran offensive tackle Kendall Lamm after hosting a workout that also included Jake Curhan and Nicholas Petit-Frere. The move comes just days after offensive lineman Hakeem Adeniji unexpectedly retired, creating an immediate need for experienced tackle depth.
Lamm, 34, enters his 12th NFL season and brings valuable versatility to a Ravens offensive line looking to solidify its depth entering the preseason. Baltimore opted for the veteran over Curhan and Petit-Frere, signaling the organization valued experience and reliability as training camp continues.
Veteran Experience Added
Lamm has appeared in games for the Houston Texans, Cleveland Browns, Tennessee Titans, and Miami Dolphins during his NFL career. After originally entering the league as an undrafted free agent in 2015, he carved out a lengthy career as one of the league’s dependable swing tackles.
During his four seasons in Miami, Lamm played in 46 games and made 15 starts, demonstrating he can step into either tackle position when needed. Throughout his career, he has logged significant snaps at both left and right tackle while earning a reputation as a solid pass protector.
Filling an Immediate Need
Baltimore’s need for another tackle became apparent following Adeniji’s retirement over the weekend. Head coach Jesse Minter indicated the Ravens planned to fill the roster opening quickly, and Lamm became the choice after Monday’s workout.
The Ravens already have Ronnie Stanley and Roger Rosengarten projected as their starters, while young linemen Carson Vinson and Emery Jones continue their development. Lamm provides insurance behind that group and could prove invaluable if injuries strike during the season.
What It Means
This signing is unlikely to generate headlines around the league, but it is the type of move championship contenders often make. Baltimore values experienced offensive line depth, especially with a physical offense built around Lamar Jackson and Derrick Henry.
Lamm will now compete for a spot on the 53-man roster during the remainder of training camp and the preseason. His ability to play both tackle positions gives him a strong chance to stick, particularly if he quickly adapts to offensive line coach Dwayne Ledford’s system.

The Ravens did exactly what they needed to do.
Instead of gambling on upside, Baltimore added a proven veteran with nearly a decade of NFL experience who can step into a game without the coaching staff worrying about assignment issues. While Lamm is not expected to challenge for a starting role, quality swing tackles are difficult to find, and his experience makes him an excellent fit for a team with Super Bowl aspirations.
It is another example of general manager Eric DeCosta continuing to strengthen the roster by addressing depth before it becomes a larger problem.
