Ravens Sign Odell Beckham Jr. to One-Year Deal
The Baltimore Ravens are signing veteran receiver Odell Beckham Jr. to a one-year deal worth up to $18 million. This is the Ravens second signing in free agency as they signed wide receiver Nelson Agholor last month. Beckham Jr. was one of the most sought after free agents this offseason.
Beckham Jr. did not play in 2022 after recovering from a torn ACL in the Rams Super Bowl victory in 2021. Beckham Jr. met with the Ravens multiple times over the past several months including a meeting in Baltimore this week. But after leaving Baltimore without a deal it looked unlikely that Beckham Jr. would be a Raven as he was set to meet with the Jets on Saturday.
But Beckham Jr. felt Baltimore is the place for him as he agreed to terms on Sunday. Beckham Jr. who turns 31 in November resurrected his career as a member of the Rams after spending his previous seven seasons as a member of the Giants and Browns.
Beckham Jr. and the Ravens hope to get the Beckham Jr. of old as he has yet to catch over 50 passes since 2019. The biggest concern is not Beckham’s on field production as he has remained as one of the games best when he is on the field. but rather his health as he is now coming off his second ACL surgery.
Beckham Jr’s. signing now give the Ravens some flexibility heading to this months draft as the need for an early round receiver appears to be less of a need. The Ravens could now look to be all in one of the the drafts best cornerbacks and look to get a late round receiver with one of their later picks.
This could be a positive sign in terms of the Lamar Jackson saga that the Ravens front office has a plan in place moving forward, one that Beckham Jr. felt comfortable enough to be apart of moving forward.
