Ravens report card week 1: Offensive
Quarterbacks– Joe Flacco was right on the money. Flacco’s first pass was a 52-yard bomb to Torrey Smith, that set the tone for the game. Overall, Flacco was 21-29 with two touchdowns and a quarterback rating of 128.4. Even Tyrod Tylor got some playing time and played well. Grade A++
Receivers– Flacco spread the ball around but tight end Dennis Pitta had the most receptions with five. Seven players on the offense had two receptions or more. The new wide receiver Jacoby Jones looked fast and tall, he had three receptions for 46 yards. Anquan Boldin was one of Flacco’s favorite targets with four receptions for 63 yards. Boldin was used more in the slot, which is a good fit for him. Grade A
Running backs– Ray Rice got to be fresh with the no huddle. The Ravens passed early and often and when Rice ran he was very effective. Rice only had 10 rushes but had 68-rushing yards and two touchdowns. Rice was also important in the passing game. Full back Vonta Leach was a beast blocking and had two receptions. The backup running backs were effective when the game was over. Grade B+
Offensive line– The biggest question mark of the season. The Ravens were set to play veterans but gave young players like Ramon Harewood chances to start. Flacco was sacked three times but for the most part the offensive line stayed in tack. Grade B
