Ravens report card: The defense and special teams 11/30/2014

The Baltimore Ravens lost to the San Diego Chargers 34 to 33.  The offense did it’s part and put up points but the defense fell apart in the second half and blew the game.  For the report card on the offense go here.

Defensive line: The defensive line did it’s part in stopping the running game but it was the lack of pressure on Phillip Rivers that hurt them.  The Ravens had two sacks but it was not enough to stop the quarterback.  Grade B

Linebackers: Terrell Suggs had a sack and played well but Antonio Gates scorched them for seven catches and over 80 yards.  The linebackers could not keep up with Gates.  Grade C

Secondary: Rivers threw for 383 yards and three touchdowns… that should say it all.  The Ravens secondary is nothing right now and Will Hill is the only glimmer of hope.  Lardarius Webb looks well past his prime and has been playing injured.  Horrible day for this unit.  Grade F—

Overall: This secondary has to be completely rebuild in the offseason.  Enough is enough.  Grade D

Special teams: Justin Tucker had a perfect day and Jacoby Jones had a giant return.  Good day for this unit.  Grade A

Coaching Staff: Poor clock management and giving away 21 points in the fourth quarter.  No Ravens fan is pleased with this staff.  Grade D
