Ravens report card: 12/23/2017

The Baltimore Ravens beat the Indianapolis Professional Football 23 to 16.  The Ravens played at home in wet weather.  The Ravens remain in the playoff hunt.

Quarterback: Joe Flacco played great from beginning to end.  Flacco threw for 237 and two touchdowns with zero turnovers.  Flacco had a 109.2 quarterback rating.  What was impressive about Flacco’s performance was how accurate he was on the run.  Flacco made a lot of completions scrambling around.  Grade A

Running backs: Alex Collins only averaged 2.8 yards per carry.  The Ravens struggled to run the ball up the middle.  Buck Allen was more effective and had 4.6 yards per carry.  Allen needs to get the ball more next week.  Danny Woodhead was very active in the passing game.  Grade B

Receivers: Mike Wallace continues to be the Ravens clear number one receicer.  Wallace had four receptions for 60 yards.  Chris Moore had two receptions as well.  Ben Watson had five recptions for 40 yards.  Micheal Campanaro had a couple of receptions and a touchdown.  Maxx Williams also had a touchdown.  Breshad Perriman had two short receptions.  This unit played well.  Grade B

Offensive line: This unit has played better than expected.  The Ravens still need better running lanes for Alex Collins.  Flacco was only sacked once but was under a lot of pressure.  Ronmie Stanley strugged.  Grade C+

Defensive line:  The defensive line had two sacks but failed to create a lot of pressure.  They still helped hold Indy to uner 100 yards on the ground.  Grade B

Linebackers: The linebackers have been struggling to help cover tight ends.  Terrell Suggs continues to have a great season.  CJ Molsey led the Ravens in tackles and tackles for loss.  Grade B

Secondary: Ever since Jimmy Smith went down there seems to be something missing with this unit.  Giving up 200 passing yards to a very weak Indy offense would not happen with Smith.  Eric Weddle dropped a big interception which would have ended the game early.  Grade C

Special Teams: Justin Tucker was perfect and made a tackle.  Sam Koch had a punt blocked.  The Ravens also blocked a field goal.  Grade B

Coaching staff: The Ravens were ready for Indy and controlled most of the game.  Great win for the Ravens.  Dean Peas needs to change things up on defense.  Grade B+

Overall: A much needed win to keep the Ravens in the hunt.  Flacco carried the team.  Grade A
