Ravens activate linebacker Josh Bynes
The Baltimore Ravens have activated linebacker Josh Bynes to their 53-man roster to provide middle linebacker depth. Bynes was recently signed to their practice squad and spent training camp with the Ravens.
To make room for Bynes the Ravens have waived guard/center Bryan Mattison. Mattison never impressed me, watching him in practice he would get beat several times each practice.
I have always liked Bynes as a player, I thought he was great in the preseason for the Ravens. This move should give the Ravens middle linebacker depth just in case Ray Lewis can not play tomorrow. Here is what the Ravens press release said.
The Ravens signed rookie LB Josh Bynes from their practice squad to the 53-man roster Wednesday afternoon.
To make room for the move, Baltimore waived G/C Bryan Mattison.
Bynes originally signed with the Ravens as an undrafted free agent out of Auburn this past July. During his collegiate career, he appeared in 43 games, recording 238 tackles (127 solo), seven interceptions, 19 passes defensed, two forced fumbles and two fumble recoveries.
Following training camp, Bynes was waived on Sept. 3 and then later signed to the Ravens’ practice squad on Nov. 9.
