Orioles Ride Early Explosion to 9-5 Win Over Blue Jays

The Baltimore Orioles closed out the weekend with a strong offensive showing Sunday afternoon, beating the Toronto Blue Jays 9-5 at Camden Yards behind a dominant outing from Kyle Bradish and a breakout game from Colton Cowser.

Baltimore jumped on Toronto early and never let the Blue Jays recover. The Orioles scored once in the second inning before unloading for five runs in the third. Cowser delivered the biggest swing of the day with a three-run homer to center field, part of a four-RBI afternoon that powered Baltimore to the series split.

Bradish controlled the game from the mound. The right-hander worked seven innings, allowed just four hits, and did not surrender an earned run. Bradish walked three and struck out four while keeping Toronto hitters off balance with a heavy mix of sinkers and sliders. The outing continued a strong recent stretch for the Orioles starter, who lowered his ERA to 3.44.

Baltimore’s offense attacked Toronto rookie Spencer Miles from the start. Taylor Ward drove in the first run with a groundout in the second inning. The Orioles then broke the game open in the third when Pete Alonso lined an RBI single, Samuel Basallo ripped an RBI double, and Cowser crushed a three-run homer into the seats in center. Gunnar Henderson also added an RBI while finishing with two hits and a double.

Pete Alonso continued his hot series with two hits, two runs scored, and an RBI. Basallo added two hits and another RBI as the Orioles collected 10 hits overall. Adley Rutschman chipped in with a sacrifice fly while Brandon Alexander reached base three times and scored a run.

Toronto finally got on the board in the seventh inning before making things briefly interesting in the eighth. Yohendrick Piñango launched a three-run homer off Tyler Wells as the Blue Jays scored four runs in the frame to trim the deficit to 9-5. Rico Garcia slammed the door in the ninth with a perfect inning to secure the victory.

The win gave Baltimore a 7-3 homestand and momentum heading into another important American League East series. After several dramatic comeback games earlier in the week, Sunday marked one of the Orioles’ most complete performances of the season.
