Orioles Lineup: Markakis Starts at First

Nick Markakis will be making his third career start, and first since 2011, at first base tonight in place of an injured Chris Davis. Davis left last nights game with a strained oblique.

The first time Markakis started at first this was the lineup for the Orioles

  1. Felix Pie (L) RF
  2. Adam Jones (R) CF
  3. Nick Markakis (L) 1B
  4. Matt Wieters (S) C
  5. Luke Scott (L) DH
  6. J.J. Hardy (R) SS
  7. Nolan Reimold (R) LF
  8. Mark Reynolds (R) 3B
  9. Robert Andino (R) 2B
Boy how times have changed.
In his two starts at first, Markakis is 0-9. The other option at first, Ryan Flaherty, is 2-9 with 2 RBI at first. I doubt Buck Showalter knows or cares about either of those stats though .
This is the rest of tonight’s lineup as the Orioles face old friend Jeremy Guthrie.
  1. Jemile Weeks DH
  2. Nelson Cruz RF
  3. Nick Markakis 1B
  4. Adam Jones CF
  5. Matt Wieters C
  6. J.J. Hardy SS
  7. Ryan Flaherty 3B
  8. Jonathan Schoop 2B
  9. David Lough LF
Jemile Weeks makes his Orioles debut tonight after being recalled from AAA Norfolk. He plays just about every position, but will be at DH tonight. It will be his first start as DH.
The Orioles will be sending Wei Yin Chen to the mound.
