Orioles lineup for first exhibition game vs. Twins

No one should expect the first exhibition game of the spring season to feature a star-studded lineup that will be replicated on Opening Day. That’s not how it’s drawn up. It shouldn’t come as a surprise that manager Brandon Hyde’s first Orioles spring lineup won’t be the same that is used tomorrow, or Monday in Fort Myers.

However, the first Spring Training game will feature a plethora of young talent that are hungry and that will try to secure a spot on the 25-man roster. The theme around camp this season has been to create a winning culture and to promote the belief in competing. The competitions continue today, this time, against another team.

The Orioles will send Yefry Ramírez to the mound to start and will follow with Josh Rogers, Mike Wright, Paul Fry, Evan Phillips, Bo Schultz and Zach Pop.

Today’s starting lineup vs. Chase De Jong:

Cedric Mullins CF
Joey Rickard RF
Renato Nunez 3B
Chance Sisco C
Yusniel Diaz DH
Stevie Wilkerson 1B
Eric Young Jr. LF
Jace Peterson 2B
Richie Martin SS

Notables missing from the lineup are Mark Trumbo, who is still recovering from knee surgery. He’s still aiming to be ready by Opening Day, barring any setbacks. Chris Davis is not in the lineup either, along with Jonathan Villar and Trey Mancini.
