Orioles agree to terms with Jimenez
The Baltimore Orioles made a big splash last night with agreeing to terms with right-handed pitcher Ubaldo Jimenez. Jimenez will get a four-year contract worth around $48 million. The downside of the deal is that the Orioles will have to give up their first-round draft pick to Cleveland which is the 17th overall pick in the draft.
Jimenez has shown that he is a proven starter and last year posted a 3.30 era and went 13-9. Jimenez has a career 3.92 era which is very good and consistent.
The Orioles starting rotation will have some much needed depth, I see Jimenez being a number two or three starter for the Orioles.
Jimenez is the Orioles biggest free-agent pitcher signing to date. Jimenez still needs to pass his physical but that should not be a problem because Jimenez has been pretty injury free in his career.
