Notre Dame of Maryland University Women’s Soccer: Alex Busick Scores in 4-1 Loss to Immaculata

Notre Dame of Maryland University women’s soccer lost to Immaculata, 4-1, on Saturday, Sept. 12, at Turf Field Sponsored by the SSNDs. Alex Busick scored the Gators’ goal in the 41st minute, while Immaculata scored three times during a six-minute stretch.

Busick scored her second goal of the season and led Notre Dame (MD) with seven shots. She also recorded all three of the Gators’ shots on target.

Immaculata Scores Three Goals in Six Minutes

Immaculata received goals from Addison Yackel, Marissa Sozzi, Heather Russell and Gracie Repici. Emma Sobieski assisted Yackel’s goal, Lily McGee assisted Sozzi’s goal, and Sam Terry assisted Repici’s goal, while Russell scored on a penalty kick.

Busick and Olivia Messercola each had a shot hit off the woodwork. Notre Dame (MD) finished with 11 shots, including five against Immaculata’s reduced defense after Ava Tippett drew a red card against an Immaculata defender in the 79th minute.

Leah Hasberry Makes Nine Saves

Notre Dame (MD) goalkeeper Leah Hasberry faced 26 shots, including 13 shots on goal. The senior made nine saves during the match.

The Gators will host Penn State Schuylkill on Tuesday at 4 p.m.

Busick generated Notre Dame (MD)’s top attacking numbers, leading the team in shots and recording all three shots on target. Immaculata’s six-minute scoring stretch proved decisive, while Hasberry made nine saves against 26 shots.
