Norris leaves early with groin injury, to pitch Friday

wpid-724px-bud_norris.jpgThe Baltimore Orioles starting rotation is finally hitting it’s stride and dodged a huge blow today.  Bud Norris left the game early today with what looked like a pulled groin which is usually a short-term injury but you never know.  Norris is a bulldog on the mound and will likely try to pitch even if the injury is a little sore.  Buck Showalter said Norris is set to pitch Friday in one of the games of the double-header.

Pitchers need to be careful however, any little adjustment or injury can lead to a bad game.  Getting out of whack and over compensating because of an injury usually does not end well for pitchers.  Pitchers that pitch through injuries usually have trouble throwing strikes or lose velocity.

Norris is seven and five with a 3.62 era and has really eaten up innings for the Orioles despite bad run support.  The Orioles need to make sure he is healthy enough to pitch and be careful with him.  Norris would be a tough loss for the Orioles if he had to miss an extended period of time.
