Navy Men’s Soccer Announces Challenging 2026 Schedule: Midshipmen Set for Seven Home Matches and Tough Road Tests

The road back to Patriot League contention begins on the West Coast for Navy.

Head coach John Hackworth and the Navy men’s soccer program officially unveiled the 2026 schedule, featuring a balanced slate of 17 regular-season matches, including seven home contests at the Glenn Warner Soccer Facility, a demanding non-conference schedule, and the annual Star Match against Army at Subaru Park in Chester, Pennsylvania.

After continuing to build the program’s culture over the past several seasons, the Midshipmen will once again challenge themselves against quality opponents before entering Patriot League play. The schedule includes trips across the country to California, several in-state rivals, and the always-competitive Patriot League schedule.

A Tough Start Out West

Navy opens the season with a two-game California road trip that should prepare the Midshipmen for conference play.

The season begins:

  • Aug. 20: at UC San Diego
  • Aug. 23: at San Diego State

Both matches provide NCAA Tournament-caliber competition and will test Navy immediately away from Annapolis.

Home Opener Begins Busy Stretch

Following the California trip, Navy returns home for four of its next five contests.

The Midshipmen will host:

  • Aug. 28: George Washington
  • Aug. 31: Presbyterian
  • Sept. 5: Temple

Between those home matches, Navy makes the short trip to Mount St. Mary’s on Sept. 8, renewing an in-state matchup against another quality Maryland program.

Patriot League Play Begins Early

Conference action starts in mid-September with a road contest at Holy Cross.

Patriot League schedule:

  • Sept. 12: at Holy Cross
  • Sept. 19: Boston University
  • Sept. 26: at Lehigh
  • Oct. 3: Colgate
  • Oct. 9: vs. Army West Point (Subaru Park – Chester, Pa.)
  • Oct. 17: at Lafayette
  • Oct. 24: Loyola Maryland

The annual Army-Navy soccer rivalry remains one of the highlights of the Patriot League season, with the neutral-site showdown at Subaru Park providing a professional soccer atmosphere for one of college athletics’ premier rivalries.

Important Regional Matchups

In addition to conference play, Navy will also face several familiar regional opponents.

The Midshipmen travel to:

  • Longwood (Sept. 15)
  • UMBC (Sept. 22)
  • William & Mary (Oct. 13)

Those matches provide valuable RPI opportunities against respected programs from the Mid-Atlantic region.

MSB Take

Hackworth has assembled a schedule that should prepare Navy for the postseason. Opening with UC San Diego and San Diego State gives the Midshipmen immediate high-level competition, while regional contests against UMBC, Mount St. Mary’s, William & Mary, and George Washington provide strong tests before the Patriot League race heats up.

The conference schedule is highlighted by home matches against Boston University, Colgate, and Loyola Maryland, but the October 9 Star Match against Army once again stands as the centerpiece of the season. If Navy can navigate its difficult non-conference schedule and defend home field in Annapolis, the Midshipmen should be well-positioned to compete for a Patriot League Tournament berth in 2026.
