Nationals Trade Kintzler To Cubs

Just hours before the trade deadline, the Washington Nationals have agreed to trade pitcher Brandon Kintzler to the Chicago Cubs. Kintzler-who was acquired by the Nationals from the Minnesota Twins at last year’s trade deadline-is 1-2 with a 3.59 ERA this season.

In exchange for Kintzler, Washington recieves prospect Jhon Romero to add to a bullpen with a fair amount of youth in the form of Wander Suero and Koda Glover. Romero is 1-2 with a 3.27 ERA in 32 games with the Myrtle Beach Pelicans-the Chicago Cubs class A advanced affiliate-this season.

This move appears to signify that while the Nationals want to win now, they also are not opposed to building for the future whenever and wherever possible.
