Nationals sweep Marlins 9-3; recap 9/1/19

The Washington Nationals beat the Miami Marlins Sunday afternoon at Nationals Park. Nationals’ record currently stands at 77-58. The Marlins drop to 48-88.

Patrick Corbin pitched a very strong six innings for Washington. Corbin allowed three hits and eight strikeouts while pitching. Sean Doolittle allowed zero hits and zero strikeouts in relief for Washington.

In the bottom of the second inning, left fielder Juan Soto scored on throwing error by third baseman Prado, Gomes safe at first, on throwing error by third baseman Prado.

At the bottom of the third inning, Soto doubled to deep left center, center fielder Victor Robles scored, Rendon to third.

Additionally, in the bottom of the fifth, third baseman Anthony Rendon homered to center (400 feet), Turner scored.

In addition, in the bottom of the sixth, first baseman Ryan Zimmerman homered to left (437 feet), Kendrick scored. Also, catcher Yan Gomes homered to left (380 feet).

Finally, in the bottom of the seventh, Juan Soto homered to right (376 feet), Rendon scored.

With a series win over the Marlins, the Nationals start a three game series tomorrow with the Mets at 1:05pm. Pitching for the Nationals is Joe Ross.
