D.C. United Awards Howard University Junior Tanbrance Berry $10,000 Scholarship During College Night

D.C. United awarded Howard University junior Tanbrance Berry a $10,000 scholarship during halftime of its College Night match against Charlotte FC at Audi Field on Saturday, Sept. 19. The scholarship was made possible through D.C. United’s partnership with the Office of Cable Television, Film, Music and Entertainment.

The scholarship supports local students pursuing their educational and professional goals. D.C. United’s College Night is an annual celebration that brings local college students together for soccer and community at Audi Field.

Tanbrance Berry Studies Law and Sports

Berry is studying Legal Communications with a minor in Sports Administration while pursuing a law degree. She has held roles with the Washington Commanders, ESPN Events, the Atlanta Dream, Howard Athletics and Hilltop Events.

Berry currently works in Women’s Basketball Brand Partnerships at Howard University. She also serves as president of Howard University Youth Justice Advocates.

D.C. United Partners With OCTFME

LaToya Foster, director of the Office of Cable Television, Film, Music and Entertainment, said the partnership supports students who demonstrate leadership and commitment to their communities.

United to support promising students like Tanbrance Berry,” Foster said. “Her drive, leadership, and commitment to the community exemplify the kind of talent we strive to uplift here in the District. Investing in young people who are shaping the future of sports, media, and entertainment is not just important…it’s essential.”

Shanell Mosley, senior director of Community Impact and executive director of D.C. United Foundation, said the organization was pleased to support Berry’s education at Howard University.

“We’re so proud to team up with Office of Cable TV, Film, Music, and Entertainment to award Tanbrance with a $10,000 scholarship and support her as she continues her educational journey at Howard University,” Mosley said. “She’s already making a meaningful impact through her work in the sports industry and her commitment to giving back. We’re proud to be able to invest in her future and all that she will accomplish.”
