Nationals New Triple A Affiliate

After a 10-year stint with the Syracuse Chiefs, the Nationals have a new Triple-A ball affiliate. The Fresno Grizzlies, a member of the Pacific Coast League, are going to be the last stop before The Show for Nats prospects. This move has been dubbed inconvenient by many Nats fans, but the Grizzlies are expected to be a good deal for the Nats. They will be definitely the Triple-A affiliate of the Nationals for the next couple years.

Here’s some background about the Grizzlies. They have been in Fresno since 1998, when the Tucson Toros moved into the area. They were the affiliate of the Houston Astros last season, and won both the PCL and Triple-A titles in 2015. They play at Chukchansi Park, a 12,500 seat ballpark. They gained fame in the Billy Crystal movie Parental Guidance, when he played Artie Decker, “the voice of the Fresno Grizzlies.” Some of the team’s alumni include stars like Buster Posey, Alex Bregman, Carlos Correa, and Madison Bumgarner, just to name a few.

The Grizzlies will be the Nats AAA affiliate for two years. As fans of the Nats, we welcome to the Fresno Grizzlies to the Nationals family.
