Nationals Fall Back To .500, Fall To Pirates 6-3

The Washington Nationals headed into Pittsburgh looking to build on their offensively explosive weekend against the Miami Marlins. Unfortunately, the Pirates had other ideas.

Pittsburgh wasted no time leaving their mark on the game, scoring three runs in the first inning on a single from Gregory Polanco and a double from Colin Moran to take an early 3-0 lead on the Nationals. The Pirates doubled this lead on a triple from Colin Dickerson and a two run home run by Gregory Polanco in the next inning to take a 6-1 lead. The Nationals attempted to rally behind solo home runs by Juan Soto and newly minted All Star Bryce Harper, but it wasn’t enough as Washington fell 6-3 to the Pittsburgh Pirates for Jefry Rodriguez’s first loss of the season and the Nationals first loss against an NL Central opponent in the eighth such game.

Nationals will attempt to even up the series tomorrow as Jeremy Hellickson takes the mound at 7:05 PM
