Mount St. Mary’s Swimming and Diving Announces 2026-27 Schedule

Mount St. Mary’s swimming and diving will face a busy schedule stretching from late September into March as the Mountaineers prepare for the 2026-27 season.

The Mount announced its new schedule Thursday, with seven dual meets, three invitationals, the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Championships and the potential for postseason competition at the College Swimming and Diving Coaches Association of America National Invitational Championship.

The season begins Sept. 26 at the Loyola Relays in Baltimore. That opening event will give the Mountaineers an early opportunity to compete against multiple programs before beginning the dual-meet portion of the schedule.

Mount St. Mary’s will then host American University on Oct. 10 at the ARCC Swimming Pool in Emmitsburg. It is currently the only home meet listed on the Mount’s schedule, making it a significant early-season date for the program.

The Mountaineers return to the road six days later for an Oct. 16 dual against Virginia Military Institute in Lexington, Virginia.

From there, the schedule gets considerably busier.

Mount St. Mary’s will return to Baltimore for Loyola’s Thomas Murphy Invitational from Oct. 23-25 before facing another Maryland program when the Mountaineers travel to UMBC on Nov. 7. The Mount will then compete at the Franklin & Marshall Invitational in Lancaster, Pennsylvania, from Nov. 20-22.

The Franklin & Marshall meet leads into one of the most important competitions of the first half of the season, the ECAC Winter Championships from Dec. 4-6.

Mount St. Mary’s performed particularly well at that meet last season. The Mount men finished fourth at the 2025 ECAC Winter Championships with 964.5 points, their highest finish at the event, while the women also finished fourth with 1,137.5 points.

That performance gives the program something tangible to build upon when it returns to the ECAC meet this December.

January brings three straight dual meets

Following the holiday break, Mount St. Mary’s will shift its attention almost entirely toward head-to-head competition.

The Mountaineers visit Howard University in Washington on Jan. 16 before traveling to Lafayette College in Easton, Pennsylvania, on Jan. 18. The regular-season dual schedule concludes Jan. 30 with another trip to Baltimore to face Loyola Maryland.

Howard and Lafayette are both familiar opponents.

The Mount men defeated Howard during the 2025-26 season and also earned a victory against American while finishing the regular season with a 2-3 dual-meet record. The women went 1-4 in dual competition, earning their victory over VMI.

Those recurring opponents should give head coach Neil Yost and his staff a strong measuring stick for the program’s progression throughout the winter.

Championship season returns to Geneva

The regular season will again lead to the conference championships at SPIRE Institute in Geneva, Ohio.

Mount St. Mary’s is scheduled to compete at the Metro Championships from Feb. 17-20. The Mount also competed at SPIRE during the 2026 MAAC Championships, where both its men’s and women’s teams finished sixth.

The men totaled 597 points at last season’s championship meet, while the women finished with 585.

There were also several noteworthy individual and relay performances.

Parker Koenig won the men’s 100-yard butterfly with a time of 48.01, while Adam Jozsa, Lucas Hancock, Austin Toland and Koenig captured the MAAC championship in the 200-yard freestyle relay with a time of 1:19.72.

Todor Gospodinov also produced a podium finish in the men’s 200-yard backstroke, placing third in 1:45.94. Gospodinov enters the 2026-27 season as a sophomore and is one of several returning swimmers who could help the Mount build upon last year’s conference performance.

Mount St. Mary’s also brings back Maryland products Drew Beabout of Gaithersburg, Joshua Black of Bowie and Antonio Gurri of Pikesville among the members currently listed on the men’s roster. Yost returns as head coach alongside assistants John Nunnelley, Cassidy Preste and Abby Leskovansky and diving coach Analiese Jezowski.

National Invitational Championship closes the schedule

Conference championships might not be the end of the season for the Mountaineers.

Select qualifying swimmers and divers are scheduled to compete at the CSCAA National Invitational Championship in Ocala, Florida, from March 11-13. Mount St. Mary’s also sent qualifiers to the national invitational following the 2025-26 season.

The program enters the new season with success outside of the pool as well.

Both Mount St. Mary’s swimming and diving programs earned CSCAA Scholar All-America recognition following the 2025-26 season. The women posted a 3.42 team GPA, while the men recorded a 3.31 GPA.

Mount St. Mary’s has put together a schedule that should prepare the program well for championship season.

The Mount gets plenty of opportunities against regional programs, including American, UMBC, Howard, Loyola and VMI, while the Thomas Murphy, Franklin & Marshall and ECAC invitationals provide the multi-team environments swimmers will see again in February.

Last season showed signs of progress. Both Mount teams finished sixth at the MAAC Championships, the men produced multiple conference champions and both teams finished fourth at the ECAC Winter Championships. Now the challenge is turning those individual highlights into another step forward in the conference standings.

There is also a strong Maryland flavor to this schedule. With meets in Emmitsburg and Baltimore along with a trip to Washington, local swimming fans will have several opportunities to follow the Mountaineers before championship season begins.

The road ultimately leads back to SPIRE in February, and everything Mount St. Mary’s does between September and January will be geared toward being at its best when it gets there.
