McDaniel College women’s volleyball opened Centennial Conference play with a 3-0 sweep of Bryn Mawr on Sept. 26, 2026, in Bryn Mawr, Pennsylvania. McDaniel College won 25-20, 25-16 and 25-14 to improve to 8-3 and remain undefeated in four road matches this season.
First-year Annika Cortez led McDaniel College with nine kills, three service aces and five digs. The victory marked McDaniel College’s first conference-opening win since a 3-1 victory at Ursinus on Sept. 20, 2019.
McDaniel College Women’s Volleyball Earns Statistical Edge
McDaniel College hit .209 with 34 kills and 11 service aces. The team also recorded 13 total blocks while holding Bryn Mawr to a -.028 hitting percentage.
Sophomore Mariya Carson led McDaniel College with 10 kills and a .304 hitting percentage. Junior Cassy Poteet recorded 28 assists and five service aces, while senior Abigayle Bowley added six kills and five total blocks.
Junior Stephanie Buttons contributed two service aces and a team-high nine digs. Junior Christiana Alapa combined with Bowley for a block during the third set.
McDaniel College Closes Each Set Strongly
McDaniel College closed the first set with an eight-point run to secure the 25-20 victory. Cortez served the final seven points and finished the set with back-to-back aces, while Carson added three kills during the closing stretch.
The Green Terror finished the second set with six consecutive points, with Poteet serving the final five. Cortez and Bowley recorded kills during the run, Bowley added a block and Poteet ended the set with a service ace.
McDaniel College created separation in the third set with another six-point run. Cortez started the stretch with a kill, Poteet delivered three consecutive aces during five straight service points, and Bowley and Alapa combined for a block before a Bryn Mawr attack error ended the sequence.

McDaniel College is scheduled to continue its three-match road trip at St. Mary’s (Md.) on Oct. 2, 2026, at 7 p.m. The match will be against the Seahawks.
